Nigerian School Children

Confident that core education and development will create a better Nigeria, Prudence Schools have called for the improved standard of learning across the country.Speaking at the 2018 prize giving/valedictory service of the school, Chairman of the occasion, Oluyinka Kufile, who frowned at the level of decadence in the country, stated that the societal ills could be corrected through the provision of quality and standardised education to young ones.

Since the children are the future, it is imperative that they are exposed to quality teaching and learning, good virtues, as well as best practices to enable them correct the ills.

Urging parents to put more effort in training their children, Kufile said, “If all of us believe in Nigeria, then we should train our children properly. Let them be upright, do not let them involve in hate speeches. Whatever we do, we are all Nigerians and we must learn to live together. We should create a better environment for our children so that they can do better than we did.”

Chief host, Dr. Joseph Oke, said the private sector whose impact is to develop a core of well-educated children for the future of Nigeria, is determined to support the government having realised that it cannot do it alone. He added that Prudence School offers exclusive type of education with its philosophy of one teacher to one student, which has made the school achieve very good result in the last 10 years.

Speaking on the perceived low standard of education, he said, “I do not believe that the standard is very low because I have had children in this country finished their education up to university level. They went abroad and did well too. When they say the standard is low, I do not understand. All we need to do is improvement. Let the government improve their schools and encourage private sector to improve theirs too, then the issue of standard will come in.”

Chairman of the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Adegoyega Afonja, while advising parents to be committed to the affairs of their wards said, “taking care of children goes beyond paying school fees, you should look into their work, discover area of amendment and get in touch with the school.” he said.
