Smiles were put on the faces of both teachers and students of State Primary School, Mafoluku, Ewutuntun, Oshodi-Lagos as the Rotary Club of Maryland refurbished a block of classrooms for the school.

At the handing over ceremony, the District Governor, Lagos and Ogun States, Kola Sodipo said the club has only done what rotary is known for by putting smiles on the faces of either individuals or community, adding that his administration would focus on primary, secondary and tertiary institutions by supporting them in their various areas of need.

“We are happy to provide conducive classrooms for the children of this school and we would continue to do that in any school that needs such within our district.

We would also support schools with laboratory, Information Communication Technology (ICT) and also give scholarship to 25 indigent and qualified students of universities in both states.

“Each student would get N100, 000.00 from the second till final year and this would add up to 75 students that are currently enjoying this privilege” he said.

Sodipo added that a leadership training programme that would bring together public and private schools within the age of 15 to 25 would also hold during his tenure.

He however called on the government to heed the request of the management by retaining the temporary teachers and non-teaching staff posted to the school.

The President, Rotary Club of Maryland, Adekunle Adeniyi said they have succeeded in doing what the club is known for.

“There are three schools within this compound and we have reached them with one project or the other which include provision of toilet, borehole, fence and we have added to that by commissioning refurbished block of class rooms that had almost gone moribund” he said.
