The thrilling performances in drama, dance, choreography and other activities held the audience spellbound at the weekend during the valedictory service and prize-giving day of Aaresther Divine Schools, Ajao Estate, Lagos State.
While congratulating the graduating students, founder of the school, Mrs. Mercy Nwankwo, who wished them success in their future endeavours, charged them to be good ambassadors of the school.
According to her, the pupils have been given all-round qualitative education that distinguishes them from their counterparts in other schools, stressing that the school has high esteem for determination and hard work, which produces success both in academics and extra curricula activities.
Decrying the poor standard of education in the country, she blamed schools that encouraged examination malpractices in external examinations for the decline in performance of the nation’s education sector.
“Inculcating in children the habit of reading their books and the attitude of working hard will deter students from involving in examination malpractice and other vices. There are schools who assist their students in examination halls, unlike what we offer in Aaresther schools, we stand for encouraging them to work and study diligently rather than teaching the children how to be involved in exam malpractice. If schools can get qualified teachers, and stand up to mentor these children to be hardworking, our education system will thrive beyond what we have today.”
Earlier in his address, News Editor of The Guardian, who was chairman of the occasion, Mr. Marcel Mbamalu, noted that the school’s exceptional performance in morals, academics and discipline was responsible for the enviable position, which it enjoys presently.
“Aaresther group of schools has proven to be exceptional in morals, academics, and discipline. There are many schools in Lagos, but this one stands out. I am really impressed and we are proud of the school”, he said.Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of gifts, awards and medals to the graduating students as well as outstanding pupils in various categories
