In a statement signed by Ihim’s Chief Press Secretary, Marcel Ekwezuo, and made available to The Guardian yesterday, the Speaker named the member representing Oguta Constituency, Henry Ezediaro, to chair the panel.
The Speaker regretted the wide publicity the purported bill has caused in reputation damage of the house since the media began to carry it.
He dissociated self from the bill, the speaker said that Notice of Presentation of Grazing Bill which was alleged to have appeared on the Imo State House of Assembly Order Paper of Monday 16th July, 2018 stated that the House can never associated with the so called Grazing Bill and its despicable killer herdsmen squad.
“According to the Honouable members, there is no way the same Imo State House of Assembly that on Friday 15th July, 2016 hosted special joint session of South – East and South – South Houses of Assembly during which it rejected the issue of Grazing Bill will approbate and reprobate.’’
The statement quoted the stand of the assembly, stressing: “We are anti -Grazing bill, anti Killer herdsmen but in favour of all that will bring a long lasting peace and joy for the people of Imo State.”
