The Neo-Black Movement of Africa (NBM) is to discus security at its 14th yearly lecture during the body’s 40th national convention holding from July 19 to 22, 2018 at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Cognisant of the level of insecurity in the country, the Pan African group has chosen the theme of the lecture as The Role and Impact of Security in Nation Building.

The organisation would also sensitise on the environment-friendly use of plastics in the state during the event.

In a statement, the president of the body, Chief Felix Kupa, noted: “Environmental issues are not given the deserved attention by many people. The campaign is largely driven by an urge to avoid wastage and protect the communities.

“In an environmentally friendly community, there should be more than just a recycling programme in place. We are therefore contributing our quota towards a cleaner environment.”

Consequently, the movement is presenting an Oxygen Concentrator to the State Hospital, Ijebu-Ode as part of its contribution to bettering the nation’s healthcare system.

Other activities lined up for the convention include a medical outreach, courtesy calls on notable personalities, including Governor Ibikunle Amosun and top traditional rulers.

The meeting would also witness a novelty soccer match, golf tournament as well as a Chess contest among others.

During last year’s convention in Calabar, Cross River State, the group donated teaching and learning materials worth millions of naira to Government Secondary School, Qua and other institutions in furtherance of its commitment to advance the education sector in Nigeria.

It also educated the citizens on preventive measures against deadly ailments like meningitis and Lassa fever.
