British Prime Minister Theresa May has arrived in Nigeria on a two-day state visit.

May proceeded to the Presidential Villa, Abuja for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the promotion of British trade and interest.

The prime minister said her visit is a “unique opportunity at a unique time for the UK,” stating that Africa’s “incredible potential will only be realised through a concerted partnership between governments, global institutions and business.”

The Presidency said Buhari and May would also sign vital defence and economic agreements between Nigeria and the UK.

"This afternoon President @MBuhari will welcome UK Prime Minister @theresa_may to the State House, Abuja. The two leaders will hold discussions, as well as sign vital defence and economic agreements involving Nigeria and the UK," the presidency said in a tweet.
