Chairman of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Ogbe-Ijoh clan, Smart Okosu, alleged that the Aladja militia launched an attack on Ogbe-Ijoh in the morning of August 20, and took away the Egbesu flags from the Ijaw controlled areas at about 11:00a.m.
He said: “We are calling on the attention of the governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, and the various security agencies in the state to caution the Aladja community to desist from their plans of launching an attack on the peace-loving people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.
“The good people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom are always for peace and that is what we have been maintaining since the inception of this communal crisis.
It is never in our system to plan evil against our beloved neighbouring community, Aladja.
All calls put to the Aladja community chairman, Chief Elias Dogene, to react to the Ogbe-Ijoh claim, were not answered. Several text messages were also not replied.
However, a leader of Aladja community, who said he does not want his name mentioned advised that the Ijaw claim should be disregarded, saying Aldaja is a peaceful community and that Ogbe-Ijoh were always the aggressors.
Chairman of Aladja community, Comrade Elias Dogene, later called to explain that he was at the SSS office that was why he could not pick calls put to him. He said there is tension in the town as one David from Aladja community is still missing since yesterday.
