Speaking at the launch of an indigenous messaging application, ‘SoftTalk’ in Lagos, he said the Federal Government was working to ensure that local content development became prominent in the promising telecommunications sector.
The App enables users to chat, make audio and video calls, unrestricted numbers of group chats and shop for affordable and genuine products.
Developed by Japan-based Nigerian developer and entrepreneur, Simple Azenabor, the App is light-weight and easy to join, using regular phone number and takes less data to function.
Mohammed said: “SoftTalk, which was designed to change the way messaging is currently done in Nigeria, will provide an alternative to local content, while contributing to the nation’s economy by creating job opportunities.
The minister, who was represented by Stella Adefusi, noted that government activities across the country were under-reported and as such, the App will boost access to information.
