PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) urged Nigerians to use the celebration of this year’s Eid el- Kabir to support one another in the spirit of love, unity, sacrifice and dedication to the Almighty Allah as exemplified in the life of Ibrahim and the teachings of Holy Prophet Mohammed.

The party also called on the citizens to remember and assist, particularly, the sick, aged and victims of unfortunate violent attacks and natural disasters that have ravaged our nation in recent time.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, yesterday, the party charged spiritual and political leaders across the country to use the occasion to shed all selfish proclivities and rededicate themselves to the service of the people, especially in the prudent and transparent management of the resources with which the Almighty Allah blessed our nation for the good of the people.

The statement reads in part: “Indeed, the Almighty Allah, in His benevolence, has abundantly bestowed our nation with abundant human and natural resources. Our citizens should therefore not live in insecurity, poverty and lack, if leaders, especially at the federal level, imbibe the fear of God, as demonstrated in the lesson of Eid el- Kabir, and put the interest and welfare of the people above personal gains.”

The PDP further said that “Nigerians, across board, deserve to be happy and adequately provided for with the suitable environment to aspire and thrive in all sectors of life; the main reason all citizens must join hands to pray that the nation gets the right leadership.”Some youth leaders urged Muslims and other Nigerians to pray for peaceful conduct and success of the 2019 general elections.

They also urged the citizens to register and get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) even as they charged religious and political leaders to preach peace and unity as the 2019 elections draw nearer.

In a statement, a young presidential aspirant, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, said prayers and peaceful co-existence amongst the people would
guarantee peaceful, free, and credible elections.

“Enough of all old mercenaries that can’t handle the nation well; this is the period to revive the economy. We are the one to take the decision,” he said National Media Director for Youth Take Over and Alliance for Greater Africa Foundation (YAGA), Nathan Simeon, said prayers would not only ensure hitch-free elections but would promote peace and unity in the country.

“We must always remember the lesson of this celebration, which is fulfillment of promise and the show of great love to humanity. We must all use this period to pray for the unity and progress of this country because it is ours and it is our responsibility to ensure it develops.”
