The Sarah Adebisi Sosan Foundation (SASF) in its quest to empower people in the rural area, particularly women, has given financial support to indigent citizens in Ojo local government area and neigbhouring communities in Lagos State.
The empowerment scheme is aimed at assisting the women to become self-reliant. Speaking at the event, the former Lagos deputy governor and founder of SASF, Princess Sarah Sosan, said the initiative is one of the ways the foundation is showing its commitment to improving the status of women and youths in the community.
She said: “Apart from our medical outreach and various empowerment schemes that include production of liquid soap, body cream, shoes, bags and insecticide, we are further strengthening their capacity with cash gift. If you empower a woman, you have empowered a nation. The little fund given to them should be added to their existing business to boost it. It is just a means of encouragement.”
The special guest, Mrs. Tokunbo Fayokun, a former Commissioner of Education in Oyo State, admonished the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds, and always give in their best in the community as well as make their home more important, especially ensuring their children are well off.
Expressing her appreciation, a beneficiary, Moriam Balogun, expressed gratitude to the foundation for their benevolence and testified how the loan has changed her family status.
