Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State yesterday called for special prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other leaders in the country.

While celebrating Eid-el-Kabir with the Muslim community in the state, Ugwuanyi, who was received by the Ummah, including the Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Mohammed; and Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Abubakar Sambo, also demanded special prayer for Enugu.

The Muslims, who appreciated the governor’s presence, also prayed for him and his administration.

They commended him for the “marvellous” work he was doing in the state and reiterated their support for him in 2019 and beyond.

Sarkin Hausawa of Enugu, Alhaji Yusuf Sambo, said the feast of Eid-el-Kabir, “which is the Eid of sacrifice”, equally offered them the opportunity to celebrate the governor. “We are also celebrating you because we have seen the significance of today in you”.

Sambo disclosed that Ugwuanyi had demonstrated love and a style of leadership that promotes “unity, togetherness and love for both religions”, describing him as a great man, who had visited the Mosque on several occasions to identify with them.

Meanwhile, Katsina State governor, Aminu Masari, has called on Nigerians to support the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to move the nation to greater heights.

Masari said though the nation was facing challenges on many fronts, government was doing everything possible to address the situation.

In a statement issued by his senior special adviser on media, Abdu Labaran, to mark the Sallah festival, the governor called on Nigerians not to allow religious and related differences divide them, but work collectively to move the nation forward.

He charged them to eschew “politics of negative instincts” and dissociate from the proponents.

The governor, who felicitated with Muslims on the Eid-el Kabir, advocated more sacrifice and obedience to leaders in the true spirit of the celebration.

“Religious occasions are moments for both merriment and sober reflection for the advancement of the society.
