Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udo Udoma

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday said the Federal Government was redesigning Nigeria’s security architecture to meet “current challenges.”

Speaking through the Minister of Budget and Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, he affirmed: “Most of the investments we are looking at might not achieve the required expectation if we do not give serious attention to security issues.”

Osinbajo, who was delivering a speech at a meeting of the National Council on Development Planning (NCDP) where the 36 commissioners of budget and planning were present, noted: “We are focusing on the redesigning of our security architecture to meet current challenges.

We are equipping our police, the army and indeed all the security agencies.

And we are committed to ensuring that every single part of the nation is secure for everyone.”

His words: “Insecurity, in any form, is a serious threat to development.

We need peace to grow and prosper. We equally need to grow to enjoy and sustain peace.”
