President Muhammadu Buhari's emergence as the sole presidential candidate of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, has been defined as a major victory.
The presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Saturday while disclosing the outcome of the ruling party's presidential primary stated that the President's emergence as the party's sole candidate will aid his success in the forthcoming 2019 presidential election.
"The outcome of the All Progressives Congress, APC, American-style direct presidential primaries on Friday 28th of September 2018, held across the states with President Muhammadu Buhari as the sole aspirant is a major boost to his success at next year’s general election," Shehu affirmed.
"It is significant that President Buhari has won a major victory, fair and square through direct nationwide primary, a system that seeks to break the mould," he added.
The President's spokesman defined the turnout of millions of registered party members at all voting centres as proof that Buhari has an incomparable ability to reach out to people and mobilise votes.
He further affirmed that Buhari's victory has shown that "you don’t have to be a party owner or go through a difficult inner party consensus to emerge as candidate"
Shehu, therefore, challenged all democratic parties in Nigeria to emulate the president's form of leadership so as to acquire victory in their political endeavour.
