A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Benue State, Professor Tor Iorapuu, has assured that he would adopt the development blueprint of former Governor Aper Aku to take the state to greater heights.
Iorapuu, who made this disclosure at the weekend while speaking with journalists in Makurdi, maintained that Benue has more than enough human and material resources to experience greater development.
His words: “In terms of development, the state has more than enough human capital and material resources. If you replicate Aper Aku’s development plan, there is enough to be done and you don’t need to add anything to take the state to enviable heights.
“One of the reasons why Benue has remained underdeveloped is the fact that a few individuals in successive governments held the state captive and ran it as their personal estates.”
“But if given the opportunity next year, I will not tamper with funds accruing to local councils. Local councils will be there to do their job. I will demystify governance by allowing them to utilize the money to attract meaningful development at the grassroots level.”
