Honourable Makpa Malla, representing Wamba constituency in Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), whose seat was declared vacant despite a court order, wants the legislature and its speaker charged for contempt of court.

NSHA had, on August 29, declared Malla’s seat vacant for defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Benjamin Davou, counsel to Malla, told newsmen yesterday in Lafia that a vacation judge, Justice Simon Aboki, sitting in High Court 3 had on August 28 given an order restraining the assembly from declaring the seat vacant.

The judge has sent the case file to the state’s chief judge, Suleiman Dikko, for reassignment because his period of vocation ends today (September 7).

In another development, the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned aspirants to desist from disparaging statements.

The chairman, Francis Orogu, gave the warning while addressing aspirants who visited the state secretariat to submit their nomination forms yesterday.
