The newly inaugurated executive of the Ladipo Amalgamated Automobile Spare Parts Market Association has promised to rid the market of cultism and preserve safety of sellers and buyers. In recent times, there has been a surge in the nefarious activities of cultists, which culminated in the murder of one of the traders at the Canal in the Odo Aladura Unit of the market.
President General of Ladipo Amalgamated Automobile Spare Parts Market Association, Mr. Jude Chikere Nwankwo, in an interview with The Guardian, said:“Cultism has been a serious challenge in the market before my assumption of office, but in my manifesto and during my campaigns, I promised traders that security will be a top priority in my agenda. Before now, the market was confronted with various challenges, ranging from cultism, baranda (agent sellers), and extortion of money from our customers, among others.
“Customers who patronised the market in the past can attest to this. But they now come to the market freely without fear of being harassed. And presently, security in the market is intact and traders’ welfare is being handled adequately. I was at the Palace of Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Akiolu recently, and he expressed his pleasure that peace has returned to the market.
“Even the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohinmi and the Area D Commander, Mushin, as well as the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ladipo Police Station have expressed happiness at the level of peace and security in the market.”
