Former Senate Leader and Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has berated the 8th National Assembly, saying its actions are not providing growth and stability for the country.
He said: “As our party contemplates another term, the president’s success depends on the kind of National Assembly he has. We need an Assembly that will support the president.”
He said this at the weekend in Calabar, while on a consultation visit to state executive of All Progressives Congress (APC), adding: “today’s National Assembly is confrontational, while working at cross-purposes with the executive arm.”
“The Senate must know when to work with the executive. Legislators were sponsored by political parties, and one of the reasons we had stability in the eight years of David Mark as Senate President was that caucuses were strong and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in the majority.”
