The Nigerian Policing Programme (NPP) and the seven member’s panel set up by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohim have engaged members of the communities across the five administrative divisions of the state on measures to reduce criminal activities ahead of the 2019 election.

Speaking during a town hall meeting held at the Police Area Command A, Lagos Island, the Team Lead, Annual Policing Plan Lagos, CSP Taiwo Kasumu said, with the 2019 election approaching, they need the support of community members to combat cultism, homicide, arm robbery, sexual and gender base violence, as well as deliver on some of its priority areas for 2019 annual policing plan.

The Lagos State Intervention Officer, NPP, Ivy Basil-Ofili explained that the initiative was supported by Coffey on behalf of British Council with the aim to support the mainstreaming of democratic policing in the Nigeria Police Force as well as towards safety and security issues in the state. Commending the initiative, the Commander General, Central Business District (Enforcement), Lagos State Governor's Office, Adetokunbo Adewusi said the era of police being manipulated and used, as commercial tools have to stop.
