Eseme Eyiboh

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has described an advice by All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Eseme Eyiboh that Governor Udom Emmanuel should not re-contest as ‘supermarket’ comment.

Speaking with journalists yesterday in Uyo, the party Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said Eyiboh does not know what he was talking about, stressing that he was only speaking for himself and not Akwa Ibom State or Eket senatorial district.

“You can only gauge an advice by looking at the person who is giving such an advice. Eyiboh will find out that he is standing against the people appealing to Udom to run again.

“I am sure he knows that in 2013, he would have advised that Udom should not contest, but he Udom ran successfully and won.

He listed some of the achievements that would guarantee Udom a second term to include investment in power infrastructure, roads construction and interest free loans to traders to boost their businesses.

“I don’t know where Eyiboh lives, but, if he lives in Uyo and he has been witnessing the extended power supply, I am not sure he knows that it was done under Udom’s government, having replaced the power infrastructure.

“The minister of power came here and said with his mouth that no other state government has invested in power much as Akwa Ibom state government,” he added.

Eyiboh, who hails from Esit Eket Local Council in Eket federal constituency and Board Chairman of Cross River Basin Development Authority, had alleged that the three-year-old administration of Governor Emmanuel has not been fair to Eket people.

Meanwhile, a House of Representatives aspirant in the state, Edet Ikotidem, has condemned comments credited to United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump, saying that, he (Trump) could not determine who should rule Nigeria.

Trump had recently described President Muhammadu Buhari as ‘lifeless’.

But fielding questions from journalists, Ikotidem, who is running for the Itu/Ibiono Ibom federal constituency, noted that since Trump has lost his integrity with his controversial presidency, he has no justification to criticise President Buhari or other presidents in any country of the world.
