• Why APC should be voted out, by Atiku

The Peoples Democratic (PDP) has petitioned British Prime Minister Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel over what it called the “growing culture of impunity, disrespect for judiciary and other anti-democratic tendencies” in Nigeria.

The letter, which was made available to journalists at the party’s national secretariat yesterday in Abuja, drew attention of the two world leaders to President Muhammadu Buhari’s alleged brazen attack on the principle of rule of law.

Signed by its National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, the PDP claimed: “Sadly, the unfettered freedom and respect for human dignity entrenched by our party has been eroded in the last three years of the current administration.”

Also yesterday, erstwhile Vice President Atiku Abubakar said the All Progressives Congress (APC) must not be re-elected next year because it “failed to deliver” on its 2015 campaign promises.

The presidential hopeful said the ruling party “performed poorly” when put side by side with the PDP in terms of stewardship.Addressing the delegates to the PDP national convention yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, Atiku insisted that the party performed well when it ran the affairs of the country. He flayed the level of insecurity in the country, stating that it was worse than what obtained during the nation’s three-year civil war.
