Saraki

Senate President and presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Bukola Saraki, has said that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Muhammadu Buhari lacks the vision, capacity and the patience to develop and deliver the country from its current challenges.

Saraki, who spoke in Bayelsa State yesterday to solicit the support of delegates to the October 6, 2018 PDP primaries to elect the party’s presidential candidate in the 2019 election, said the country was at a crossroads and that only a youthful, courageous and digital president could take it out of the woods.

He told supporters who thronged the Peace Park venue of the event in Yenagoa that the Nigerian people are presently divided across ethnic, religious and political lines, a narrative he vowed, to change if he becomes the president.

“Today, I have come here to seek your support.

There is lack of unity; people do not feel a sense of belonging or a sense of the government.

“We want a president that has capacity, that is able and that is digital. We want a president that is youthful, energetic and vibrant.

A president that when he stands and talks, you will be proud to say ‘yes, that’s my president,’” he said.

In a related vein, House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara has confirmed his defection from the ruling APC to the opposition PDP.

He made the declaration at the national secretariat of the PDP while submitting his nomination form for his Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State.

Dogara said he had decided to come back to his original roots, adding that he did not defect to the PDP because the APC denied him a return ticket.

He said: “I have decided to come back to my original root because the truth is that when we went into APC after the general elections, there was never an occasion in which we were not reminded that we do not belong.

“When there are discussions, you will hear reference to the fact that those who joined us from the PDP are our problems.

So, that discussion will end from today since we have left.”
