Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has urged the Board of Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) to review the state’s tax laws, saying such laws should not be cast in stone but should be implemented with a human face.

He stated that such a holistic review was necessary to reflect present day tax realities in the state.Ortom gave the charge yesterday while declaring open a workshop for management staff of the board on efficient strategies facilitated by Power Plannet Limited in Gboko Local Council.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who represented the governor, described the workshop as the first of its kind since the creation of the board, saying it will greatly keep the staff abreast of strategies in tax management efficiency.

Speaking, Executive Secretary and Chairman of BIRS, Terzugwe Atser, disclosed that BIRS has removed 159 illegal revenue roadblocks, adding that those still operating at night were always on the run because security agencies were after them.
