Workers under the aegis of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately terminate the appointment of Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, over alleged impunity, corrupt practices, high-handedness, injustice and nepotism in the ministry.
The ministry’s chapter of the ASCN also said that the minister had unfortunately succeeded in duplicating, wasting resources through the creation of the Nigerian Office of Trade Negotiation (NOTN) based on false memo or advice to the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Chairman of the Association, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment Unit, Okonkwo Onwuyah, disclosed this to journalists when the workers staged a protest at the front of the ministry yesterday in Abuja.
Onwuyah said: ‘’We are also demanding that all outstanding payments since 2014 till date be prioritised on first come, first served basis, training and welfare needs of workers must be concluded before the end of December 2018, services of consultants be withdrawn with immediate effect and timely conduct of promotion exercise should be observed.
Also, Chairman, ASCSN, NEPZA Unit, Samari Yakubu Isah, said the association decided to formally write Buhari on August 7, 2018 having seen the impunity and corruption being perpetrated in NEPZA.
However, Special Adviser to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Babajide Oyetogun, declined comments when The Guardian contacted him on the issue.
